Harmonic Theory shows that the Earth’s magnetic field is unbalanced, with **1850 lines per square cm** in one direction and **1257 lines per square cm** in the other direction. To see how they fit into the overall harmonic system, these measurements must be first converted to the grid system. This was not specifically outlined in Bruce Cathie’s books, so it will be shown here.

Here is the conversion of the two fields:

**Geodetic Conversions for Magnetic Field of the Earth**

In the first section, the object is to calculate a conversion factor to go from centimeters per standard inch to centimeters per geodetic inch.

The next section shows the theoretical values of each field. Due to the curvature of the Earth, the the 1850 value works out to be a little more than 1853, and the 1257 value works out to be a little more than 1259.

The third section shows the conversion of the 1853 lines of force to square geodetic inches.

The fourth section shows the conversion of the 1259 lines of force to square geodetic inches.

Hopefully, this makes things clearer for readers of Bruce Cathie’s books.

Hi Rod.

What is the significance of harmonic 254558507 please? It is mentioned in the original paperback of Bruce’s book “Harmonic 288” as an unknown Harmonic that Bruce says he “mistakenly thought was related to gravitational acceleration” and appears in the polar square of the grid too.

I ask because it is also the reciprocal of the difference between the 2 opposing fields discussed here. I am writing this here not to have it posted but because I do not have your email address with me (I am on holiday and your email is at home).

Working as follows:

Field a – field b = 593.7615.

593.7615 x 2.572173 = 62.6767100913

Squared to give value in geodetic inches Squared = 3928.3699878707.

Reciprocal of this is 2545585 Harmonic.

I will try to do some more but no access to grid works on cellphone so may have to wait…

Also does grid works 4 run on Windows 7? My XP system is getting old and tired now so I worry.

My portable email is neilwilkes@gmail.com

You will have my work email on file…

I look forward to hearing from you

Hi Neil,

Yes, 2545584412 is the reciprocal of the Resultant Earth Field, 3928.371007 harmonic. But, it is also the square root of 648, a value in the Grid Polar Squares. Therefore, the number has a relationship to both the magnetic field and the grid. Very significant.

Yes, Gridpoint Atlas works with any version of Windows.

Rod.

I realise the relationship to the polar square….mentioned this before I think.

Indeed very significant and furthermore it also seems slightly variable as well, I suspect because of both relationships, in the same way the 144 harmonic is and dependent on latitude?

Looking forward to getting home and hitting the computer.

Many thanks.

Rod Maupin says

Neil,

The Resultant Earth Field, 3928.371007, never varies, no matter what the latitude. Since 2545584412 is the reciprocal of that number, it never varies either. Just one of the interesting facts of the harmonics system.

Hi Rod.

I understand where I erred now. The variability thought came from using the magnetic field values as published in the third book (Harmonic 288) and I now realise that must have been the mistake as I should of course have stayed with the theoretical values given above by you (using 1850 and 1257 lines per cm2 gets a value of 593 for difference which comes out as 2548853 instead of 2545585).

That will teach me to use more accurate values in future.

Very interesting it is, as you have pointed out, also the radius of the polar grid square.

I shall go away and refine this further.

Finally. Can you please edit out those email addresses in first post? I would be very grateful.

Neil,

I removed your email addressess.

Hi Rod.

I can still see them in the first post I made……sorry to be a pest.

Anyway – back from the sunny Algarve now and back in wet & dreary London so will be getting Gridworks out during the week………lots to look into & I will keep you updated.
